Learn the habits you should be tracking if you want a happy life. As part of your new year’s resolutions, why not add a few things to the mix? Habits are what make us who we are and can define our lives.
I use to be a ‘diet starts tomorrow’, ‘going to the gym five days a week’ and ‘writing my book’ kinda person. Starting all kind of things with the best intentions only to give up just before the real results start to show. Clearly, i’m not the only one as the gym’s and roads are full of people exercising in January and a week into February they are no where to be seen.
Following a painful breakup a few years ago, I decided to transform my life, deciding to be fitter, healthier and do all the things I said I was going to do. I developed habits to get me into shape, to have more energy, to start my new venture and more. I created habits that were aligned with what I wanted and this made me happier. Being fitter, healthier and doing more of what I wanted to do made me happy.
Every now again, a thought still pops up to not go to the gym today, to scroll through social media for an afternoon and to spend a few days eating chocolates and drinking coke. I’m pleased to say that my habits have become unshakeable.
Here’s a simple list of habits you can implement in your life that will make you happier. This article is the first to our three part series on happiness over the next couple months. Be sure to check back for more!
1. Eat healthier, cutting out excess junk you don’t need and eating the correct portion.
2. Create an exercise plan that you can stick to no matter how busy you are and not let anything get in the way.
3. Do one thing a day to get you closer to your career or personal goal.
4. Drink enough water
5. Meal prep in advance so you’re not tempted to snack on sugary snacks or crisps
6. Walk mindfully
7. Spend time in nature
8. Say no to what you don’t want

We’ll be diving deep into these habits over the next few months so check back for more.
